A few years ago, "your website's carbon footprint" was an abstraction you couldn't act on. Today it's a concrete number you can measure in seconds with free tools, and, as established elsewhere in this library, that number doubles as a proxy for your site's speed and bloat. Measuring it is therefore useful twice over: it gives you an environmental metric and a performance diagnostic, both for free. But the number is only valuable if you know what to do with it.
